In many areas, patients may be offered a choice of Tier 4 bariatric surgery provider when they successfully complete their Tier 3 programme and are referred for surgery. This means you may be able to choose the hospital or specialist bariatric service provider where your treatment takes place, rather than automatically attending the provider initially suggested.

Already Waiting for Surgery? You May Still Have Options
If you’ve already been referred for NHS bariatric surgery and have been waiting for treatment, you may not necessarily have to remain with your current provider.
Under the NHS Inter-Provider Transfer (IPT) process, patients who have been waiting 18 weeks or longer may be able to request a transfer to another NHS bariatric provider.
For example, if you live in Cheshire and have been referred to Stoke Hospital for NHS bariatric surgery, you may be able to request a transfer to Phoenix Health if you’ve been waiting for 18 weeks or longer. Your current provider can arrange the referral transfer, allowing you to continue your NHS bariatric journey with Phoenix Health.
